![]() For Immediate Release June 23, 2010 MANDA MOSHER AND RED PARLOR RECORDS ANNOUNCE THE RELEASE OF CITY OF CLOWNS ON AUGUST 10th CD Release Shows at the Hotel Café in Hollywood on August 24th and Pappy & Harriet’s in Joshua Tree on August 28th Los Angeles, CA—Manda Mosher and Red Parlor Records announce the release of City of Clowns on August 10, 2010. An ode to her hometown, the EP is a follow up the 2009 debut album Everything You Need of which American Songwriter magazine proclaimed “beautiful, compelling melodies with poignant lyrics sung with a sensual, sultry authority…this is good, this is now.” Manda will play a CD Release Party at the Hotel Café on August 24th backed by her band consisting of Ido Sasson, Carl Byron, Alex Balderston, and Dave Allen. Manda will also head over to Pioneertown on August 28th to play her favorite desert roadhouse Pappy & Harriet’s Palace, just outside of Joshua Tree. Manda will hit the stage with Merle Jagger described as “a modern day wild bunch shooting it out in the greater Los Angeles area, playing blistering riffs that were inspired by the guitar slinging ghosts that pioneered the twang of electric guitar and progressive rhythms.” Manda just returned from her summer In Lieu of Flowers Tour, a collaborative roots road show with fellow troubadour Mr. Ashley Raines, which featured the two songwriters backing each other while showcasing their respective work. Starting off in California, the pair made their way through the Rocky Mountains in van touring Colorado, Oregon, Washington, and then hopped a plane for a few East Coast dates before heading back to Colorado and New Mexico. The Santa Barbara News Press described Manda’s music as “an alluring sound, somewhere between artful pop and a harder, rock space.” Manda finds herself in the midst of the musical world of Tom Petty, Lucinda Williams and Kathleen Edwards. There is rock, there is roots and soul, and there are solidly crafted songs. Her second release for Red Parlor, the new EP is an honest stripped-down recording of Manda and her band, reflecting where she is now and the urge to be as close to her true live sound as possible. A Los Angeles native and 6th generation Californian, the song “City of Clowns” is a full circle reflection of Manda’s ongoing struggle to maintain her true identity while accepting the city where so many are not what they seem. Manda’s previous album Everything You Need was nominated for 2009 Hot AC Album of the Year. Check out http://mandamosher.com for further information and updates. Look for City of Clowns to be released on August 10, 2010.
